Creating Digital Twins with ENGAGE
A digital twin is a recreation of either a real-world space in the virtual world or a data set which represents something in the physical world.
At ENGAGE we have worked with many organizations globally creating digital twins for use within immersive technologies such as VR and AR headsets from makers such as Meta Quest, Lenovo VRX , Pico and HTC Vive. Two such examples the ENGAGE team have worked with in the past are in manufacturing via KIA and Exxon Mobile who use their digital twins for onboarding and training.
Medical Digital Twins are recreations of parts of the human anatomy, and a good example of this is our collaboration with Stanford University where medical students were provided classes remotely inside ENGAGE and interacted with multiple human anatomy models.
Manufacturing Digital Twin – KIA Motors Germany
KIA have been an ENGAGE partner for some years now and have collaborated with the ENGAGE team on the recreation of their car sales garage which is a building used throughout the world. This digital twin is then used for marketing events and sales training as it is populated by sales teams remotely and digital twins of KIA’s new EV6 motorcar range are added so they can train efficiently. Manufacturing Digital Twin – Exxon Mobile
One of the world’s largest petrochemical companies Exxon Mobile worked with the ENGAGE team on a recreation of their head office in Houston, Texas. This amazing looking building is vast and would not look out of place in a Sci-Fi movie. The Exxon Mobile Digital Twin is extensively used for onboarding new employees by providing tours of the main campus. It showed key locations for employees in case of an emergency and provided additional details for new employees on where departments are located and what they do.
How to get your own digital twin?
Firstly, you should focus on your Return on Investment (ROI) before beginning a digital twin project. The outcome that you wish to achieve will narrow down the focus on what type of digital twin is required. For example, if it’s safety training you may only need a small fraction of your real-world location built for use within the simulation.
Once you have your ROI goals in mind, our in-house Studio Team can work with you to bring your vision to life. If your organization already has an accurate 3D CAD model or similar 3D file, we can help you prepare it for use within VR by optimizing it and importing it into ENGAGE. When the assets are ENGAGE ready, clients can then use our network features and content development features to easily build and deploy a range of tasks and simulations for training and development of employees and students.
