User input

• Added support for the Logitech MX Ink stylus for users of Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets. This includes left and right handed use for drawing on surfaces, adjusting line style in response to applied pressure, drawing in the air with the 3D pen, and navigating through ENGAGE.

Controls

• Added the ability to press the Z key or middle mouse button on desktop devices to toggle between looking around and interacting with the environment. This is an alternative to holding down the left mouse button or space bar to look around.
• Added the ability to press the B key to toggle the visibility of IFX bubbles.

Sessions

• Introduced limits on the number of LITE users that can join persistent sessions, as well as sessions or events that include access restrictions. The limits depend on the license of the user that creates the session or event, or the group that owns the persistent session.
• Added commercial sessions. These are like persistent sessions, but don’t limit the number of LITE users that can join.
• Added an indicator on the in-session menu that shows the LITE user limit and how many are currently in the session.
• Added a notification to hosts when a LITE user has failed to join because the session has reached its limit of LITE users.

• Changed navigation controls on desktop devices so that a user doesn’t automatically look around when they move their mouse. This makes it easier to interact with 3D objects and menus, and to multi-task in other applications. When a user wants to look around, they can hold the left mouse button, the middle mouse button, or the space bar.

• Increased session IDs to six characters and removed characters that could be easily confused. Specifically, O, 0, I, and l. Old session IDs will continue to work.

• Added the Connections system, which enables users to connect with each other so they can more easily interact on the platform.
• Added the ability to invite a connection to the Session that you’re in, and to request to join a Session that a connection is in.
• Added a new page to show information about users who are in the same Session as you, which includes their profile pictures.
• Added status indicators to user profile images to indicate whether a user is online or offline, but also enabled each user to set their status to appear offline.
• Added an option for group owners and administrators to prevent members of a group from creating connections with users outside of their group.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

• Added support for two-factor authentication, which any user can choose to enable. 2FA is a type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that uses two distinct authentication factors.
• Added new columns to the Users table displayed in the Enterprise Admin Portal to show if users have SSO or 2FA enabled, and the date that the user registered for an account.
• Enabled users who are excluded from SSO through partial enforcement to use the 2FA system provided by ENGAGE. Those required to use SSO can’t use the 2FA system provided by ENGAGE.

Mixed reality

• Created a new experimental system for users of Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3 headsets to experience ENGAGE in mixed reality.
  • Users in the same physical location can share a mixed reality experience, where they see virtual 3D objects added to the view from their passthrough cameras and anchored in place as though they are part of the real world.
  • Users of Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3 headsets can use the room scan data from their headsets to automatically create a 3D model of their environment – called a digital twin.
  • A user in a mixed reality experience can be joined by a remote user, where the remote user sees the digital twin model instead of the passthrough camera view.
  • The system supports multiple co-located users in mixed reality and multiple remote users in the same shared experience.
• Added a step-by-step walkthrough in the application to guide users in setting up their mixed reality environment.
• Added the option for users of Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3 headsets to replace their menu screen background environment with a view through their passthrough camera.

IMPROVED

Avatars

• Removed the restriction on how many full-body avatars can be viewed on stand-alone VR headsets, phones, and tablets. For more information, refer to Assigning full body avatars.
• Improved avatar display names to be less intrusive within a session.
• Changed the full-body avatar warning window to appear only when a host assigns more than five full-body avatars.
• Moved the My Avatar link, which leads to the Avatar Editor, to the user menu in the upper-right corner of the menu screen.

Enterprise Admin Portal

• Removed the option to invite a new user to the group with the owner role if a member of the group already has that role.
• Changed how user quotas work. Only unique users are counted towards a license. Quotas assigned to subgroups no longer automatically subtract from the available number of users. A user who is a member of multiple subgroups is no longer counted multiple times.

Host controls

• Renamed the Users page of the in-Session menu to Host Controls and restricted access to hosts only. Non-hosts can now use the People page to view information about other users in the session.

Localization

• Implemented a new interface for language selection in the ENGAGE application.

Notifications

• Users can now see notifications outside of Sessions. For example, an invitation to join a Session while on the menu screen.
• Added the ability for a user to pause their notifications. For more information, refer to Pausing notifications.
• Added the ability for a user to select a link in a notification, and then be taken directly to the corresponding area of the user interface.
• Add the ability for users on desktop devices to follow notification links through a keyboard shortcut.

Single sign-on

• Added the option to disable SSO without the need to delete the configuration.
• Updated presentation of the client secret field on the SSO settings page of the Enterprise Admin Portal so that asterisks replace characters, but the overall length is unchanged.
• Added an error message to the ENGAGE application to indicate when SSO has been turned on, but the configuration settings are incorrect.
• Renamed the Azure Active Directory SSO provider to Microsoft Entra ID.
• Added zoom controls to the SSO log-in pages in the ENGAGE application to improve legibility.

Sessions

• Streamlined the sequence to start a new session through removal of the screen that showed the Session ID. For instructions on how to obtain a Session ID, refer to Inviting others to your session.
• Implemented a new invite user panel, which in addition to the session ID displays the password for protected sessions, and includes the ability to copy the information in a formatted text snippet that can be shared with others. Note: No password is sent to the client over the network. The user must have entered the password to access the session, and this is then cached locally.

Shared screen

• Added the option for users on Windows 11 devices to share audio when they share their desktop or a chosen application.

User accounts

• Removed the requirement for a user to provide their date of birth when they created an account.
• Removed the use of imperial units for height entry for languages in regions that exclusively use metric units.

Security

• Changed the remember me setting to expire after 30 days.

IFX

• Added the ability to hold the left trigger button to rotate an object while puppeteering without needing to release the right trigger button.

FIXED

Avatars

• Fixed an issue that caused the wrists of recorded avatars to appear twisted when played back.

Movement

• Fixed an issue that could block avatar movement if a user closed their in-session menu while entering text in a field.

Cloud connections

• Fixed an issue that prevented a user from connecting to their Dropbox account.

Cloud file manager

• Added feedback to indicate when an upload has failed because the file size exceeded 500 MB.
• Fixed file uploads to prevent a user from exceeding their storage quota and display an appropriate error message.

Content Editor

• Fixed an issue where the inclusion of illegal file name characters caused an upload to Cloud File Manager to fail.
• Fixed an issue where if a user replaced an object loaded from Cloud File Manager with another cloud file object, the new object did not display correctly.
• Fixed the ability to click a point on the timeline to move the playhead.

Emails

• Fixed an issue where Event creation emails weren’t localized to the user’s chosen language or time zone.
• Fixed the hyperlink included in invitations to join a group to ensure that it is a clickable link.

Enterprise Admin Portal

• Fixed an issue that prevented users who were added to a group through bulk upload from being able to change their display name until after they set a time zone and location.
• Removed access to SSO settings for users with an administrator role. Only users with an owner role can adjust security settings.

Events

• Corrected the tooltip for the option to ban a user from an Event.

Host controls

• Fixed an issue that could cause multiple avatars to occupy the same seat if a host chose to seat all users twice in succession.

LINK

• Fixed an issue that caused some characters to be missing in the titles and descriptions of LINK locations for Simplified Chinese.

Localization

• Fixed the presentation of help information about how to load a video for non-English languages.
• Added translations to some unlocalized areas of the application.
• Adjusted the user interface in multiple areas to prevent translated text from being cut off.
• Added a more accurate translation of the Recording feature for the German language.

Persistent sessions

• Raised the maximum capacity of a persistent Session to 70 to match the maximum capacity of other Session types created by Enterprise accounts.

Pico

• Fixed an issue that prevented a user from accepting or rejecting cookies when they used the in-application web browser to access the Google Images page.

Profile

• Prevented the upload of .webp images for profile pictures, because this format is not supported.

Security

• Fixed an issue with Session encryption to ensure that if a user is a member of at least one group that has Session encryption enabled, all Sessions that they create are encrypted.
• Implemented a fix to invalidate a remembered log-in setting when a user changes their password.

Single sign-on

• Changed in-application messaging related to SSO to be more appropriate when the user has a LITE or PLUS account.
• Fixed an issue where someone who was a member of multiple groups that had SSO turned on, but was excluded from SSO in one of those groups through partial enforcement, could log in without the use of SSO.
• Fixed an issue that allowed invalid domain names to be added to the exclusion list for partial SSO enforcement.
• Removed the display of some SSO-specific UI elements when SSO is not turned on.
• Added an error message when a user enters too many characters in the tenant ID field.

Shared screen

• Fixed the ability to share a specific application on a Mac.

User accounts

• Fixed an issue that could cause country and time zone lists to be displayed in Korean when a user created an account.

User interface

• Fixed the tabbing order of fields on the Password page of the ENGAGE application.

• Updated scalable Sessions so that if the All Users are Co-Host setting is turned on in the template persistent Session, it is applied to all instances.
